Background

Johnny Rodriguez and Elisha Terada decided to join a week-long hackathon hosted by Ben’s Bites, one of the fastest growing newsletter on the topic of AI. Leveraging the power of GPT-3 and DALL-E, we set out to create a platform that allows non-engineers to build and deploy AI tools in matter of minutes. At the end of the hackathon, we were pleased to win the 1st place! We are continuing to invest our time in making the app more powerful and accessible for everyone.

Results

The app resulted in 150,000+ user sign-ups, 300+ paying users, multiple consulting business opportunities.

Process

Brainstorming

Before the hackathon, we were already experimenting with automation workflows by connecting tools like Typeform, Zapier, ChatGPT, and Google Sheets. This sparked the idea to create a no-code solution that would allow anyone to build similar AI-powered automations with ease. We set out to democratize access to Generative AI by making automation simple and accessible for all.

Wireframing & Prototyping

We quickly moved into wireframing the user experience using Figma. As the design evolved through multiple iterations, I simultaneously began setting up the technical infrastructure. This included deploying cloud hosting on Vercel, implementing user authentication via Auth0, and configuring a database on Google Cloud. These early steps were essential in laying a strong foundation for our application.

Development

Guided by a clear “North Star” vision, we entered the development phase with focus and determination. We built out the marketing website, developed the core web application, and crafted a compelling brand identity—all with the goal of creating a memorable product to showcase by the end of the hackathon. Each team member contributed to refining both the functionality and design to ensure everything aligned with our vision.

The Launch

Once the Minimum Viable Product (MVP) was ready, we dedicated the remaining time to fine-tuning the user experience. We ensured a smooth launch by preparing essential elements like terms and conditions, a privacy policy, social media profiles, and public relations assets. These final touches helped solidify the foundation for a strong and impactful launch, allowing us to present a polished product by the hackathon’s close.
